Joel Coggins

I began working at the Press as a production assistant. I later became the design and production editor, and since then my role has expanded to design and production manager. I have been fortunate enough to win several book design awards from the Association of University Presses. I was also awarded an AUPresses/Mellon Foundation Residency Grant in 2016, which allowed me to spend a week in residence in New York, where I collaborated on production workflow development with Columbia University Press, Fordham University Press, and NYU Press. I’m an avid bibliophile, especially interested in the form of the book and bookmaking as an art and craft. I love collecting artist’s books, poetry books, and the work of typographer/calligrapher Hermann Zapf.

I also love hockey, doughnuts, and my home state of Ohio. I’m a proud Pitt alum, and I love bringing my passion and expertise to the books we publish.
