Carl A. Zimring

Carl A. Zimring is professor of sustainability studies at Pratt Institute, where he founded the undergraduate sustainability studies program and the Center for Critical Discard Research. He is the author of several books, including Cash for Your Trash: Scrap Recycling in America; Clean and White: A History of Environmental Racism in the United States; Aluminum Upcycled: Sustainable Design in Historical Perspective; and Technology and the Environment in History, with coauthor Sara B. Pritchard.  His previous editing work includes the two-volume Encyclopedia of Consumption and Waste: The Social Science of Garbage, coedited with William L. Rathje; and Coastal Metropolis: Environmental Histories of Modern New York City, coedited with Steven H. Corey for this series.
