Gary Soto teaches Chicano studies at the University of California at Berkeley. in addition to the United States Award from the International Poetry Forum, he has received the Academy of American Poets Prize, Discovery–The Nation Award, Poetry’s Bess Hokin Prize for 1977, and Nuestro’s poetry selection of 1977.
