The 2027 Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize is open for submissions. The Starrett prize is awarded for a first full-length book of poems and carries a cash award of $5,000 and publication by the University of Pittsburgh Press as part of the Pitt Poetry Series.
The judge for the 2027 prize is Tiana Clark, author of the poetry collections: Scorched Earth (which was named a finalist for the 2025 National Book Awards, and I Can’t Talk About the Trees Without the Blood (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2018), which won the 2017 Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize.
Past winners include Migwi Mwangi, Bobby Elliott, Nathan Xavier Osorio, Ryler Dustin, Anuradha Bhowmik, among many others.
