Pitt Poetry Series Announces Fall 2026 Titles

The Pitt Poetry Series at the University of Pittsburgh Press continues its tradition of publishing the finest contemporary poetry by announcing the forthcoming publication of the following collections:

  • Desire Path by Migwi Mwangi, winner of the 2026 Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize, selected by Terrance Hayes. Desire Path is a sweeping exploration of nationhood and small communities across cultural landscapes and national boundaries. In praise of community, these poems are invested in examining everyday life through personal narratives, oral tradition, and collective memory. (On sale September 8, 2026)
  • retrovirology by John Bonanni, winner of the 2025 Donald Hall Prize for Poetry, selected by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers. Conversing across generations, retrovirology draws from Queer lineage to unleash the wisdom of AIDS activism into our current political moment. (On Sale September 15, 2026)
  • The Decadent Movement by Laura Kolbe. At once raw and ornate, The Decadent Movement is a reverse-diary in poems that chronicles the first year of motherhood and nine months of pregnancy, rewinding its narrative from end to beginning. (On sale September 22, 2026)
  • Abider by Melissa Crowe. A memoir in verse—sad, sexy, searching—that follows a semi-feral girlchild-turned-wife through her queer awakening and toward a sovereignty both hard won and sweet. (On Sale September 22, 2026)
  • The Blue Eye of Earth by Beckian Fritz Goldberg. In her eighth collection, The Blue Eye of Earth, prize-winning poet Beckian Fritz Goldberg attends the earthly limitations of human desire set against the ravishments of time. (On Sale September 29, 2026)
  • Rupture Anthem by Hera Naguib. A searing debut book of poems, Rupture Anthem moves on a global journey to trace the displacing impact of intersecting power systems—capitalism, militarization, patriarchy, blending intimate memory with history to interrogate repression, belonging, and citizenship.  (On Sale October 6, 2026)
  • Capricorn in Flux by Elton Glaser.  In poems crackling with verve and wit, Elton Glaser’s Capricorn in Flux navigates the diminishments and indignities of old age, still sprightly and exhuberant among the fading years. (On Sale November 10, 2026)

About the Pitt Poetry Series

Since its inception in 1967, the Pitt Poetry Series has been a vehicle for the finest contemporary poets. Throughout its history, the series has provided a voice for the diversity that is American poetry, representing poets from many backgrounds without allegiance to any one school or style.

Series editor Nancy Krygowski’s book Velocity won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize in 2006, and her most recent poetry collection is The Woman in the Corner. She teaches poetry in Carlow University’s Madwomen in the Attic program.

Series editor Jeffrey McDaniel is the author of six books of poetry, most recently Holiday in the Islands of Grief. Other books include Chapel of Inadvertent Joy, The Endarkenment, The Splinter Factory, The Forgiveness Parade, and Alibi School. He teaches at Sarah Lawrence College and lives in the Hudson Valley.
