The Pitt Latin American Series began in 1968. Since then the series has grown to include a wide array of distinguished books from a variety of disciplinary, ideological, and methodological perspectives on every aspect of Latin American history, politics, society, economics, and culture. The series continues to thrive as it enters its sixth decade with a renewed sense of purpose.
With a vigorous and wide-ranging list in Latin American studies, the University of Pittsburgh Press looks forward to expanding and deepening its publishing efforts in this vibrant and increasingly important region of the world.

Natalia Milanesio is Professor of Modern Latin American History at the University of Houston. She is the author of Destape: Sex, Democracy, and Freedom in Postdictatorial Argentina (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2019) and Workers Go Shopping in Argentina: The Rise of Popular Consumer Culture (University of New Mexico Press, 2013). Spanish translations of both books have been published by Siglo XXI Editores. Her work has appeared in leading journals in the field, such as Hispanic American Historical Review, Gender & History, Journal of Women’s History, Journal of Social History, and Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies. She has received numerous honors and awards, including a Leverhulme Visiting Professorship to spend a year at the Institute of the Americas, University College London, and the University of Houston College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Distinguished Faculty Award. Her books have earned some of the most prestigious prizes in Latin American studies, among them the Conference on Latin American History (CLAH) Bolton–Johnson Prize, the Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies (RMCLAS) Judy Ewell Award in Women’s History, and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) Southern Cone Studies Section Book Prize in the Social Sciences (2015) and in the Humanities (2020).
